Cancellation & Refund Policy

Once purchased, lessons cannot be cancelled in advance for a refund. However, if you are dissatisfied with your voice lesson experience, please let us know and your lesson fee will be refunded.

For Online Lessons, show up anyway! We singers are rarely in our best voice when it is time for big performances or important rehearsals. We can still get valuable work done if you aren't in your best form.

For In-Person Lessons, please do not attend your lesson if you are unwell - so we can minimize the spreading of germs - but consider meeting for an online lesson instead (see the previous paragraph). At your earliest convenience let us know that you are unwell and we'll discuss whether we can meet online.

Regardless of whether you plan to meet in-person or online, if you become seriously ill or experience a medical emergency on the day of a lesson (e.g. require an appointment with medical professional or hospitalization), we will grant a one-time exception and reschedule your lesson at no cost to you.

We use Google Meet, which has a reputation for high audio and video quality without complicated settings. A Google Meet call link will be sent to you in your online lesson confirmation email.

Most people already have the equipment they need for online lessons. As long as you have a webcam and microphone (even those built into a laptop, tablet, or smart phone will do in a pinch) we can make it work well.

If you intend to use a laptop or desktop computer, we recommend that you invest in a quality external webcam (we use and recommend the Logitech C920).

Setting: Find a private setting where you are comfortable singing at full volume and will not be distracted by others walking through the room.

Lighting: Try to place your main source of light in front of you so you are not backlit.

Camera: Position the camera at eye level or a few inches lower so that your neck is in a neutral position while you sing. Please be far enough from the camera so you can be seen from the waist up.

Microphone: If using an external microphone, it is best to keep the microphone approximately 1-2 feet from your mouth for best audio quality.

Sure! But please do not share your recording with others. The content of each lesson is tailored to your specific situation and may be unhelpful or even harmful for others if used out of context.

We record all online sessions and will send a link to the recording (and brief notes) via email within a few days of your lesson.

Stand while you sing: It is generally easier to sing well while you are standing. So please plan to stand for all singing during the lesson, health permitting.

Have water nearby: Thirst tends to hit suddenly while singing. Having water at hand will reduce related interruption or distraction.

Take notes: We are going to cover a lot of information in each lesson. Writing down key points will help guide your continued improvement.

Play and experiment: Be ready to try new things! During lessons I will ask you to do things that seem strange or go against what you have previously learned about singing. Just give it a genuine, open-minded try and let the results speak for themselves.

Practice what you learn: Good singing is a habit. Although lessons with me will give you reliable and helpful information, you need to regularly practice what you learn to achieve lasting growth as a singer.

Yes! I would be happy to discuss online or in-person coaching for your quartet/trio/duo or in-person coaching for your chorus or other larger singing group.
